Mine and leachate treatment
In mining areas, acid mine drainage (AMD) pollutes waterways with acids, sulfate, and dissolved metals – resulting in high environmental and operational costs. Our solution transforms this burden into a resource: Forward osmosis (VO) robustly "traps" sulfate and metals, while recovering up to ~90% of the water for direct reuse. The precipitated calcium sulfate (gypsum) can also be monetized, reducing the overall treatment costs by approximately 75% compared to conventional approaches. The result: clean, neutral water for reuse, significantly less wastewater, stable compliance, and economical operation even at sites with highly fluctuating loads.
